Call for Bloggers! Do you want a free copy of the 2013 Book Blogger's Cookbook?

Calling all book bloggers! Have I got an exciting project going on!

The 2011 and 2012 Book Blogger's Cookbooks have sold over 85,000 copies! With this great news, I am pleased to announce that not only will there be a 2013 volume of the cookbook, but in response to popular demand, there will be a printed version of The Book Blogger's Cookbook that includes all three volumes! Can I tell you how thrilled I am about this?

But wait, that's not the best part.

How can I be included?

How would you like to be a part of the cookbook? We are now accepting submissions for book reviews with companion recipes from YOU! Your recipe, photo, and book review will appear in the three-volume version of The Book Blogger's Cookbook, along with your blog. This is a great way to get your name in front of thousands of readers!

What do I get?

If your recipe and review are accepted, your name and blog will be printed in the ebooks and print versions, and you will receive a complimentary copy of the three-volume Book Blogger’s Cookbook. Please let me know if you want to be included ASAP; the call for entries ends March 3 (see below to contact me).

Click here to see a list of included and wanted titles.

With the success of the first two ebooks, we have decided to raise the money for printing the hard cover copy using Kickstarter.com. We will be offering several prizes and other benefits to those who pledge for the book or contribute there.  In the event that we fail to reach our Kickstarter goal, we will still make the combined Book Bloggers Cookbook available in both ebook, and soft bound formats.

Can I be in the 2013 Book Blogger's Cookbook?

Yes! I'm also in need of blurbs for The 2013 Book Blogger's Cookbook, and help with the book launch tour. Please fill out the form below to help!

*if you really hate forms, drop me an email.

Tasty Tuesday-Memory Merchant's Sour Cream Blueberry Pie

David Farland's Nightingale
Memory Merchant's Sour Cream Blueberry Pie

Memory Merchant's Sour Cream Blueberry Pie

Bron's life in Nightingale by David Farland is bittersweet. He doesn't dare enjoy the glimpses of happiness he has in his new life with Olivia in St. George. Instead, he holds on to the walls he has built for himself through years of foster care. Olivia breaks through some of those barriers as she uses her skills as a memory merchant to plant in Bron's mind her own memories of learning to play the guitar.

This recipe is unique because the author suggested it. I tweaked the original recipe (given to me by Farland's lovely wife Mary) to make the sour cream and blueberry fillings separate and swirling around each other like the competing factions in Bron's life.  While visiting family in St. George, Utah (the setting of the book) I was able to make the recipe and photograph the pie on the red rocks of the area.

3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup blueberries, frozen or fresh
1 cup water
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon almond extract or lemon juice
unbaked pie crust (if you ask me nicely I will email you my mother's prizewinning pie recipe)

pecan topping (optional)
5 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons butter, softened
3 tablespoons pecans, chopped

In a small saucepan over medium heat, stir together the sugar and cornstarch. Add blueberries and water and cook until boiling, stirring occasionally. Let boil for one minute and then remove from heat.  Allow to cool completely.

In a medium sized bowl, beat the eggs with a fork. Stir in the sour cream, and almond extract or lemon juice. Keep in the fridge or freezer until the blueberries are cooled.

Pour the cream mixture into the unbaked pie crust. Add the blueberry mixture on top of the cream. Swirl the two together with a spoon, giving it a marbled look.

Prepare pecan topping by combining the flour, butter and chopped pecans.

Cook at 400' for 30 minutes. Remove the pie and sprinkle the pecan mixture on top, if desired. Cover the edges of the pie crust with tin foil to prevent over browning. Cook for an additional 15 minutes. Let cool in the fridge. Best served the day you make it.

Today is the last day of The 2011 Book Blogger's Cookbook launch tour. The cookbook is on sale right now for .99 on Amazon. We are finishing up the tour with not just one stop but two--at two great book blogging sites.

Suey is a book blogger at It's All About Books whom I met at a local book blogging get together.  She is reviewing the cookbook and highlighting two chocolate recipes, with photos of her and her daughter making them.

"It's All About Books is a chatty friendly spot where I like to discuss all sorts of books with my readers, but especially YA and fantasy. However, even though it says it's all about books, I like to ramble on about music, movies and TV a bit too... and any other adventure life throws my way." -Suey

Chrystal at Snowdrop Dreams is celebrating her first Blogoversary!  Congrats Chrystal.  As part of the festivities, Chrystal is giving away a copy of the BBCookbook!

Shortbread and Custard...and a Kindle, oh my!

Stella at Ex Libris isn't just talking up The 2011 Book Blogger's Cookbook today--she's shouting it.  Not only did she review the cookbook, she also tried one of the recipes and is highlighting not one, but two recipes.  The fun part is, both of the recipes which are from the cookbook go together nicely for a refreshing summer dessert.

Stella also allowed me to guest blog about the recipe "Scarborough Fair Shortbread", the companion recipe to Impossible by Nancy Werlin.  Hop over to Stella's blog to find out what recipe I first had in mind for Werlin's novel.

Wednesday is the last day to enter to win a Kindle and copies of the cookbook.  Comment on Stella's post (either one) and then check the tour schedule to visit all of the participating blogs and get lots of entries!
